H150E – Roofing Membrane

Thermoplastic Commercial Roofing Membrane H150E

H150E is a high performance, thermoplastic roofing membrane compounded with a proprietary combination of coal tar pitch, and Dupont™ Elvaloy® KEE resins, reinforced with dispersed polyester fibers.

  1. Is certified by Underwriters Laboratories as meeting requirements of its Class A fire rating in various system configurations.
  2. H150E has Factory Mutual approval for Class 1-90 with various insulations.
  3. H150E has been evaluated by the Southern Building Code compliance office and is an approved product listed under the evaluation report #9517.
  4. H150E is UV stable
  5. H150E requires no ballast. With the membrane weighing less than 1/2 lb. per square foot, minimal additions to present deck loads can be achieved using H150E
  6. Has been proven resistive to a wide range of chemicals, however, when roofs are exposed to harsh chemicals, a welded seam is always recommended. Consult with the Hyload Technical Department to determine which product to use for your specific application or to obtain a Chemical Resistance Chart.
  7. Can be fully adhered to the substrate offering excellent resistance to wind uplift. Point stressing, which can occur with systems requiring mechanical fasteners to secure the membrane, is not a problem with H150E.
  8. H150E sheet is manufactured without liquid plasticizers permitting the use of stronger more resilient raw materials and a unique bonding adhesive system. The membrane’s properties remain intact longer since plasticizer migration does not occur as is the case with many other Thermoplastic membranes which use liquid plasticizers.
  9. H150E is designed to be installed with various hot or cold applied adhesives. Laps are sealed with the selected adhesive in top pour and aggregate applications or by hot air welding when a smooth or coated finish surface is required.

  • The substrate should be smooth, level, clean, and dry.
  • Dead load capabilities of the deck and supporting structure must be sufficient to support the load of the new system.
  • H150E can be installed directly over existing substrates, including coal tar pitch, approved insulation cover board, or base sheets after all have been properly primed.
  • H150Ecan be used as the surface membrane in a built up system

Install vapor barrier (optional) in accordance with vapor barrier manufacturer’s instructions. Install treated wood nailers at perimeters and projections so as to be equal to the height of the insulation. Fastening of wood nailers or cants must be in accordance with FM1- 49 or the specifications of others if more stringent. Fasten and/or adhere all layers of insulation in accordance with the insulation manufacturer’s specifications, or the specification of others if more stringent. A base sheet (optional) may be specified to be attached mechanically, fully adhered in an approved adhesive, or as a self adhered membrane (see HyBase SamVR Tech Data Sheet for use as a vapor retarder). Note: If mechanical attachment of the base sheet is specified, at least one ply of Type IV or Type VI glass felt or HyBase SAM must be installed over it prior to installation of the H150E membrane.

Glass ply felts Type IV or VI may then be installed in the approved interply adhesive.

Note: The number and/or type of interply felts affect available warranties.

When the underlying assembly is constructed in accordance with the specifications, the Hyload H150E membrane can be installed in the selected adhesive. Surfacing of the H150E may be smooth, coated, or top poured with the aggregate embedded in the top pour. If the surface of the H150E is left smooth or coated, all of the seams and laps in the field and at perimeters and projections must be hot air welded. An aggregate surface must have a minimum of 60 lbs. of top pour if using an approved adhesive and a minimum of 500 lbs. of approved aggregate of which 50% must be embedded in the top pour. On assemblies with aggregate surfaces, all exposed laps and seams at the perimeter, projections, and other areas must be hot air welded prior to application of the top pour and aggregate.

  • Vertical flashings may not exceed 18” in height without installing a termination bar or other approved method of fastening.
  • H150 E should only be applied when temperatures are 45°F and rising.
  • A variety of attachment and installation options are available. Contact Hyload to discuss specific applications
  • Due to flow characteristics, coal tar pitch/bitumen must not be used as an interply adhesive in any assembly. Coal tar pitch/ bitumen may be used for top pour bonding of the aggregate to the surface of the H150E membrane on roof slopes of 1/8” or less.
  • Coal tar mastics must not be used with H150E
  • Phased construction is not approved.
  • All required welding must be completed by the end of the day on areas roofed on that day.
  • Slope limitations are in place for use of certain asphalts in hot climates; contact the Hyload Technical Department for specifics.
